Bladder Vs Kidney

The bladder is a muscular sac located in the pelvis that serves as a reservoir for urine before it is expelled from the body. It is lined with a specialized tissue called transitional epithelium that allows for expansion and contraction as it fills and empties. The bladder plays a crucial role in the urinary system, coordinating with the kidneys, ureters, and urethra to manage the storage and elimination of urine. Signals from the nervous system trigger the urge to urinate when the bladder reaches a certain capacity, allowing for voluntary control over the timing of urination.

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine, just below the rib cage. They are vital components of the urinary system, responsible for filtering blood to remove waste products and excess substances, which are then excreted as urine. Each kidney contains approximately one million nephrons, the functional units that perform the filtration process. In addition to waste elimination, the kidneys play key roles in regulating blood pressure, electrolyte balance, and maintaining overall fluid homeostasis in the body, making them essential for maintaining health.
