Paranoid Personality Disorder Vs Delusional Disorder

Paranoid Personality Disorder (PPD) is a mental health condition characterized by pervasive distrust and suspicion of others, leading individuals to interpret their motives as malicious. People with PPD often believe that others are out to harm or deceive them, which can result in strained relationships and social isolation. Symptoms may include a tendency to hold grudges, excessive sensitivity to perceived slights, and a belief that one's personal rights are being violated. Delusional Disorder is a mental illness defined by the presence of one or more delusions that persist for at least one month. These delusions are false beliefs that are firmly held despite evidence to the contrary and can revolve around themes such as persecution, grandeur, jealousy, or somatic concerns. Unlike schizophrenia, the individual's functioning is not significantly impaired outside of the delusion, and hallucinations are not common. Treatment often involves antipsychotic medications and psychotherapy to help manage symptoms and improve insight.
